5great for skin problemsOct 14, 2007
By nic
I started using this a long time ago on one of our dogs who had oily, but very itchy skin from seasonal allergies. we tried dozens of shampoos that were supposed to help her itchy skin, but none of them did, except for this one. it cleansed all the oil off her skin, but didn't leave it dry, and for the first time in her life wasn't constantly itching her skin! we were, of course, thrilled to find a product that actually lived up to its claim, *and* that was free of harmful ingredients. sadly our pup passed away a few months ago, and not long after that the two remaining dogs came down w/ a staph infection on their belly and hind legs. our vet perscribed medicated shampoo and topicals as well as antibiotics. our 10mo puppy is very smart though; when they started getting bathed w/ the medicated shampoo every few days she took it upon herself to steal and hide it! well I had to wash them w/ something and I reached for this since the tea tree oil in it is very healing. I can honestly say that this shampoo cleared up the infection much better than the medicated stuff our vet gave us. I was really surprised, but there was such a noticable difference even after 1 use that I abandoned the medicated stuff. I'm not saying you should use this instead of something your vet gives you, but in a pinch it has really worked for us.

5The VERY Best Shampoo for your loved one!!!Feb 18, 2008
By Gina Bird "Blush"
Earthbath Oatmeal & Aloe Pet Shampoo is the best and most gentle way to bath your loved one. It gives you all the benefits of being all natural, soap free with oatmeal and aloe that Vet's recommend for sensitive skins. Plus, it leaves your loved one fresh, clean and very, very SOFT! Fur feels like it did when my dog was a puppy! My doggy has very sensitive skin and this comforts and soothes her skin and coat without making her look over conditioned. The scent is fabulous and helps keep her smelling fresh. My groomer has started using it exclusively after I brought it in for her to use on my dog. I can't say enough good things about the safety and benefits of this pet shampoo

5Not safe for catsJan 31, 2008

This is a wonderful product for dogs, but even though it says "safe for all animals over 8 weeks" it is NOT safe for cats. Tea tree oil is toxic to cats. Please research this topic.

5Helped regrow fur and contributed to a very soft, non-itchy chihuahua...Jun 20, 2011
By Lindsey Tallman
I inherited an almost 12-year-old long-haired (straight, not curly) Chihuahua when my grandmother unexpectedly passed away. Her problems started when she spent the first month in a home with other dogs that she wasn't getting along with. I decided to take her in as my first dog but unfortunately she arrived here infested with fleas and had scratched so much that she had developed a significant bald spot near the base of her tail. Once the fleas were gone, it became apparent that she was a sensitive dog in general. For the first time in her life, she had free access to the backyard thanks to our cat doors and although she loved rolling around in the grass, she had allergies and would become quite itchy. I set out to find a shampoo that would help her be less irritated.

The first shampoo I tried was Pet Head Life's an Itch Skin Soothing Shampoo, 16.1 fl.Ounce. It's a great shampoo and left her soft and smelling good but I was not seeing any hair regrowth at all after three weeks. She itched significantly less but it didn't seem to last long so I decided to give Earthbath a try after reading the reviews here on Amazon. I had a great mental 'Tea Tree and Aloe' vs. 'Oatmeal and Aloe' debate but decided after visiting the company's website that since her issues were more irritation-based than a result of dry skin, that this was the more appropriate product. I could not be more pleased with the outcome!

After massaging it in with a cat Kong brush, letting it sit for five minutes and rinsing her off, she can go three weeks before starting to obviously itch again and smell like a dog. Her fur is super-soft and shiny without being oily. The best part is that not only is her bald spot completely gone (I started her on this at the beginning of May) but the upper half of her tummy is back to being furry and her skin is noticeably less black from irritation.

I wouldn't hesitate to try any of Earthbath's other products and definitely plan on recommending this shampoo whenever the opportunity arises. Mia is a much happier girl.

5Very Pleased!Sep 10, 2011
By LazyChick
I was a bit skeptical to try this on my Australian cattle dog after countless attempts with different shampoos and very little success. I was stuck debating between the Oatmeal & Aloe vs. Tea Tree and Aloe. I decided to go for tea tree, based on her ongoing skin issues.

After the first few washings, I started to notice dramatic results with her obsessive scratching, which I feel was either fungal or allergy related, if not a mix of the two. I also looked into her food, trying to get types that had less wheat in the ingredients, since I know a lot of dogs are allergic to it, and that also seemed to help quite a bit as well (also noticed her seizures have lessened, though not sure if that's related). Even though her scratching lessened significantly, I've also been giving her a little organic coconut oil in her food off and on for about two to three times a week (about a tablespoon), just to help with her coat and to fight against worms.

What I really love about this product, aside from it helping with her scratching, is that there's no strong perfume smell and the ingredients are great, too. I avoid chemicals in a lot of my skincare, so I feel good about putting an all-natural product on her. I don't ever notice any residue on her coat, but it still manages to leave it clean and shiny. You don't need a lot and it rinses easily, which is also great.

She's always extremely perky after I'm done bathing her now, like tonight. Kind of funny actually. I also like to use the Conair shampoo dog brush to help loosen any dirt and shedding fur (she sheds/blows her coat twice a year in clumps, rather than consistently), as well as for a little massage, and she loves it. Highly recommend.

**Update**
Still loving this brand, although I decided to give the oatmeal version a try, even though I really wanted to try the mango scent (for my sake!). Our weather has been pretty dry, with hardly any humidity in the air, and my dog's skin was getting flaky and itchy (as was mine). The tea tree didn't work as well for this a few weeks ago, and my guess is that it's better for more fungal-type issues or dermatitis, etc. Before, the weather wasn't dry, she had some other issue going on, which tea tree helped with.

I decided to give the oatmeal type a shot and loved the smell. It definitely conditioned her coat more - though the tea tree made it just as clean and shiny, if not a little more clean/clarified. Since I shampoo twice in a row, for good measure, I'll probably use both for now; otherwise, I think I prefer the oatmeal. The tea tree didn't smell bad, IMO, but smelled more herbal (very mild). My "partner" didn't care too much for it, but he said she smelled good when I used the oatmeal, even while she was still wet. Again, very mild smell that fades by the next day.

Would say to get the oatmeal if you see flakes/dandruff/dryness, or the tea tree if there's scratching but no apparent dry skin involved. I'm sure either type will work great, though.
